Diskit Monastery is the main cultural landmark of Nubra Valley, set above the valley floor with views across villages, river flats, and cold-desert slopes. Its large Maitreya Buddha statue has become one of Nubra's most recognisable images, especially against the open mountain background. Travellers usually combine Diskit with Hunder dunes, Bactrian camel rides, and overnight stays in Nubra.
